Ditchling Woodland Dell
Our Brief: To create a bespoke artists garden studio and entertaining space hidden in a large garden backing on to the South Downs in Sussex.
Our Solution: We followed the lines of the existing garden and integrated a large garden room into the garden which was obscured with the introduction of a mature multi stemmed Amelanchier lamarkii. A large terrace surrounded the studio which was paved with dark grey, slimline Van de Moortel clay pavers. A pergola presided over a large seating area, featuring a large full width L shaped storage bench. The existing pond had to be removed but was replaced with a contemporary trough that cascaded down the natural fall of the garden into a newly created pond area. Care was taken to integrate the new area of the garden with the existing garden and the planting reflected the existing style of the space while introducing new pops of cerise pinks and burgundies surrounding the deep brown studio colour.
