Our Brief: To create a stunning, multi functional family garden that matched the beautiful new architect-designed house remodel.
Our solution: We designed a series of outdoor rooms that reflected the design of the new home by Darby Architectural. Each window or door of the home looked on to a corresponding garden room, each separated by a retaining wall that included raised planting beds to create the rooms.
To match the very contemporary look of the new house, we designed a 'black' garden that used ebony porcelain tiles to clad the walls with Farrow & Ball's Pitch Black paint on the boundary fencing. Contemporary grey porcelain pavers were complimented by dark grey Millboard decking to delineate each zone. Planting pockets were also created inside the patio areas and multi stemmed Cornus Kousa were planted strategically to further highlight the different areas. An outdoor fireplace was the key focal point when looking from the main living space inside the home. The retaining walls had Pennisetum planted in front to create movement and texture.

“Amanda proved instrumental in our garden design process. Needless to say we had a ‘rough’ idea on the style we were going for but Amanda directed us perfectly in terms of colours not only with our tiles, fireplace, furniture but also with our plants and trees. Who knew all of these factors were equally as important as the other. I highly recommend Amanda Lorenzani. You won’t be disappointed!!!!”
